The Hellboy Universe

Hellboy started out as an idea in Mike Mignola head and soon found its way onto the comic book scene in a very large way. Through different miniseries’ as well as one-shots and crossovers, the character of Hellboy has definitely made an impact in mainstream culture.

Who is Hellboy?

Hellboy’s birth name is Anung Un Rama, which means “Beast of the Apocalypse”. He is a demon who through Nazi occultists, was brought to earth. Upon his discovery by the Allied Forces (with the help of Professor Trevor Bruttenholm) some time later, Hellboy grew up to be the character known the world over; large with red skin, complete with horns and a tail, as well as his signature right-hand, which is oversized and made of stone.
